The growing interest of Filipinos in solar energy reflects a desire for affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity—not a desire to undermine the power sector.
Instead of treating rooftop solar as a challenge, let us recognize it as an opportunity. Distribution utilities can become key partners in building a smarter and more resilient energy system by helping consumers adopt solar safely, improving interconnection processes, and embracing technologies that benefit both the grid and the public.
The future of energy should not be defined by restrictions that limit consumer choices. It should be built through collaboration, innovation, and policies that protect the interests of both electricity providers and Filipino consumers.
A stronger energy future is one where government, utilities, and citizens work together—not against each other.
