TIPOLOgy

Studying the products of self construction methods of the community of Tipolo allowed us to see the unique characteristics of the community.

These existing typologies showed us how their bespoke built environment was their expression of their commitments - family, community, health, a future, self expression and connection to the city of Mandaue.

In self-building a community, the built environment is a reaction to the collective context. These reactions have its source. Finding the source needs us to get in touch with our own humanity. And once we define that source, instead of reactive design we make conscious and empowering designs.
