“‘Ma’am, Legit Po Kami’:
The Dark Truth Behind TikTok & Facebook OFW Agencies”
Every day, thousands of Filipinos scroll past “Urgent Hiring Abroad! No Experience Needed!” posts—thinking it’s their ticket out of poverty, not knowing it could be the start of their worst nightmare.
Many of these so-called “agencies” have no license, no office, and no real job abroad—just a page, a TikTok live, and a script designed to empty your savings and break your family’s trust.
Unlicensed recruiters are now hiding in plain sight on social media—mas mabilis pa sila mag-reply kaysa sa tunay na agency, mas sweet pa magsalita kaysa sa jowa, pero mas malupit manloko kaysa sa sindikato.
They use emotional hooks: “Para sa pamilya mo ‘to,” “Sayang ang opportunity,” “Limited slots today lang,” targeting OFWs and dreamers who are desperate to escape low wages and debts.
Most victims are:
• First-time hopefuls from provinces who are not familiar with legal processes.
• People who are tired of “walang asenso” jobs sa Pinas and are willing to risk everything.
• Families who pawn land, sell tricycles, or borrow money at high interest—just to pay “processing fees” to a Facebook or TikTok account with no real office behind it.
The result? Walang visa. Walang kontrata. Walang trabaho.
