With her double release “Dzisiaj w Betlejem” and “Lento. Cantabile semplice” (after Henryk Gorecki), releases two covers that oscillate between memory, origin, and spirituality. Created as part of her commissioned work for the Popkultur Festival 2025, they are an idiosyncratic approach to her childhood in a Catholic Polish family. Andreya reinterprets the traditional Polish Christmas carol “Dzisiaj w Betlejem” (“Today in Bethlehem”) in a psychedelic-indie manner. The second release, “Lento. Cantabile semplice,” is based on Henryk Górecki’s Third Symphony—a work that was first reinterpreted in pop culture in the 1990s by Beth Gibbons (Portishead). Both songs are part of an ongoing artistic process: a search for belonging, for one’s own place between tradition and departure, between Poland and Berlin, church and club.
