𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐏-𝐃𝐈 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐕𝐄𝐓 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 🤝

On 27–28 August 2026, ECOP and the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) kicked off the ECOP-DI TVET planning session under the upcoming Strategic Partnership Agreement 3 (SPA3).

The team visited Don Bosco-One TVET Philippines and the D.M. Consunji Technical Training Center to explore industry-responsive TVET approaches and met with the Danish Trade Union Development Agency (DTDA) to discuss strengthening employer–labor partnerships and social dialogue in skills development.

The discussions emphasized the need for TVET to prepare workers not only for today’s jobs, but also for the future, equipping them with skills in green jobs, AI, digitalization, and emerging technologies.

ECOP remains committed to bringing together employers, labor, TVET institutions, government, and development partners to address skills gaps and build a demand-driven workforce ready for the changing world of work.

🌱 𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐏 𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔!

On August 27, 2026, ECOP brought together members of its SDG Network at Privato Hotel Makati for a day of reconnecting, sharing experiences, and exploring practical approaches to sustainability.

The morning session gave members a chance to reflect on their sustainability wins, challenges, and support needs, while sharing experiences and good practices with fellow enterprises.

ECOP also shared updates on its sustainability initiatives, including the SDG Value Scan, the CarbonNeutralReadyBusiness course and calculator, just transition, and DEI initiatives such as DAWN 2.0 and the Inclusion Initiative, as well as the proposed ECOP-DI Strategic Partnership Agreement 3 (SPA3 2027-2031)

In the afternoon, Aqo Partners facilitated an interactive QUEST Workshop where participants explored sustainability through value chain mapping, role-playing, and practical business scenarios.

From learning and sharing to connecting and taking action, the SDG Network continues to grow as a community of enterprises working toward more sustainable and inclusive businesses. 🌱🤝

📣 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 📣

On this day, we remember the life of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino Jr., whose legacy continues to remind us of the value of freedom, democracy, and standing by one’s convictions.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1006, Series of 2025, 21 August 2026 (Friday) is declared a Special (Non-Working) Day in commemoration of his 43rd death anniversary.

Employees rendering service on a Special (Non-Working) Day shall receive an additional 30% of their basic wage for the first eight work hours, and an additional 50% if the day falls on their rest day. The “No Work, No Pay” policy shall apply.

𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒 𝐔𝐏, 𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐏 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐒!

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued Labor Advisory No. 15, Series of 2025, strengthening labor and management preparedness and the protection of workers during disruptive events.

The Advisory provides guidelines to help protect workers in situations involving natural disasters such as typhoons, floods, and earthquakes; man-made disasters such as industrial accidents; public health emergencies; and other extraordinary events that may pose imminent danger to workers.

It also emphasizes the responsibility of employers to strengthen disaster preparedness and workplace safety programs, conduct hazard identification and risk assessments, suspend work when there is imminent danger, adopt appropriate alternative work arrangements, provide necessary safety measures and PPE, and consider the needs of vulnerable workers.

Importantly, workers who are exposed to imminent danger or are unable to report to or perform work because of an imminent hazard should not be subjected to disciplinary action.

ECOP members are encouraged to take note of the guidelines and strengthen workplace preparedness and safety measures to ensure the protection and welfare of workers during disruptive events.

𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒 𝐔𝐏, 𝐄𝐂𝐎𝐏 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐒!

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has issued 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐍𝐨. 𝟏𝟒, 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, providing guidelines on the suspension of work in the private sector due to severe weather conditions and similar events.

The Advisory sets out the rules on wages and pay during work suspension, including situations where employees report for work or render services despite the suspension. It also provides guidance on work arrangements and the protection of employees during such circumstances.

The Advisory emphasizes that employees who are unable to report to work due to imminent danger brought by inclement weather or similar events should not be subjected to administrative sanctions. Employers may also provide additional incentives or benefits to employees who report for work during natural or similar events.

ECOP members are encouraged to take note of the guidelines to ensure compliance while prioritizing the safety, health, and welfare of workers during weather disturbances and similar emergencies.
