πŸ“° As Philippine Government unveils PHP 60 Billion incentive to pitch PH as EV makers’ hub, SUNSMART E.V.E. Energy Vehicle Ecosystem led by President Jenny Lin Granados MaaΓ±o is a collaborative initiative designed to help transform Philippine public transportation from conventional fuel-based systems into a smarter, cleaner, and renewable-energy-powered transport ecosystem.

Aligned with national priorities, including the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) and the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy. By integrating green energy innovation, smart ev tech manufacturing , and community development, SUNSMART E.V.E. complements government efforts to make electric mobility mainstream and sustainable nationwide.

β€œAt the heart of this movement” President Jenny gives the program a strong, visionary positioningβ€”it presents E.V.E. not simply as an EV project, but as a potential model for the future of Philippine public transportation.

πŸ“°The Philippines stands on the cusp of a public transport revolution. At the heart of this movement is the E.V.E. (Electric Vehicle Ecosystem) powered by SUNSMART Solar Power Technology Inc. in partnership with Pasig Green City Transport and Multipurpose Cooperative (PGCTMC) and E-VOLUTION Transport Manufacturing Solutions Inc.

This pioneering effort doesn't just include a single component of EVs β€”it envisioned the mobility landscape by building a holistic ecosystem that integrates electric vehicles, standalone solar energy, battery storage, smart charging, digital technology, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

"Consistent with our clean energy drive, we have encouraged the adoption of electric vehicles. We have removed all tariffs on EVs until 2028 to bring down market prices, and government has also been mandated to prioritize electric vehicles in their refleeting plans."

The Department of Energy (DOE) continues to accelerate the country's transition to cleaner and more sustainable transportation through key initiatives highlighted in President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s 2026 State of the Nation Address.

From making electric vehicles (EVs) more affordable through tariff removal until 2028, to advancing the implementation of the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), expanding the use of EVs in government fleets and public transportation, and working toward the goal of 50% EV adoption by 2040, the DOE remains committed to building a cleaner, more energy-secure, and future-ready Philippines.

Installing rooftop solar or a home battery is about to get cheaper and easier for Filipino households. House Bill 10431, the Sariling Kuryente Act, would scrap the commercial-grade permits and utility approvals now required even for systems that never send power back to the grid β€” cutting both the cost and the wait time for homeowners who just want to power their own house. JUST IN: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issues Executive Order No. 121, providing for the Electric Vehicle Incentive Strategy (EVIS) Program.

Through the program, the government aims to encourage major companies to establish and manufacture electric vehicles and their components in the country, which will generate jobs for Filipinos, according to Palace press officer Claire Castro.

The government will also provide tax payment certificates as incentives to encourage companies to invest in the country.

"The EO seeks to create more jobs, attract new investments, strengthen local manufacturing, reduce the country's dependence on imported oil, and position the Philippines as a key player in the global electric vehicle supply chain," Castro says. | via Dexter Cabalza, Philippine Daily Inquirer
