What does it mean to be a great work coach? For sure credentials, subject area expertise, actual work experience, and analytical thinking are important. However, when you throw into the mix passion, exuberance, ability to connect, and genuine desire to help, you've got a human systems mentor who makes the difference in an organization, whether it's a complex corporate structure or a business start-up made up of young entrepreneurs.
Paul Ruiz's engagement at the John Gokongwei School of Management at the Ateneo de Manila University simply blew me away at how he was able to provide rapid-fire answers to the students' burning questions (on strategy, organization, leadership, etc) with regard to their various businesses ranging from technology and consumer goods to retail and public service. It was so refreshing to watch a speaker bursting with wisdom that is both brilliant and yet practical enough for students to takeaway. And his enthusiasm was more than compelling--it was contagious! Not one sleepy head in the audience made up of millennials!
Only a truly passionate and seasoned work coach connects with the school's curriculum and its students for maximized and energized learning. So glad I was there to witness his love for the content and hear him inspire our future business leaders.
