The Philippine equity space closed-up +1.61% at 5,700.99, powered by broad-based buying that lifted advancers to 120 against 57 decliners.

ICT (+30.15 pts) led the charge, followed by MER (+10.79 pts) and BDO (+7.86 pts). SM was the lone heavyweight drag (-7.13 pts), with LTG (-0.38 pts) and CNPF (-0.10 pts) posting marginal losses.

Foreign flows remained net sellers at PHP 133-Mn, but local buying at PHP 4.75-Bn more than picked up the slack.

๐—˜๐—–๐—ข๐—ก๐—ข๐— ๐—œ๐—– ๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช๐—ฆ:
* Economist Emmanuel Leyco warned that Septemberโ€™s 7.2% inflation rate is eroding the pesoโ€™s value and outweighing the BSPโ€™s 5% interest rate, contributing to the currencyโ€™s record low of P62.90 against the US dollar and increasing pressure on households and businesses.

* Economist Sonny Africa warned that a looming strong El Niรฑo could further fuel the Philippinesโ€™ rising inflation by reducing agricultural output and increasing electricity costs, compounding pressures from higher oil prices and a weakening peso, with inflation reaching 7.2% in April.

* The Philippinesโ€™ goods exports could surpass $100 billion in 2026, driven by strong demand for electronics and minerals, following a 14.8% year-on-year increase to $64.04 billion in the first eight months.

๐—–๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—ฃ๐—ข๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ง๐—˜ ๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช๐—ฆ:
* MER (+5.30%) : Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) completed its P12.4-billion acquisition of an additional 1.9% stake in Meralco, raising its total ownership to 49.4% and bringing it closer to majority control of the countryโ€™s largest power distributor.

* MWIDE (+0.95%) : Megawide Construction Corp. will redirect P1.23 billion in unused bond proceeds from transport-oriented developments to government housing projects under the 4PH program, aligning its capital with growing opportunities in the housing sector.
