Malacañang Suspends All BIR Field Audits Amid Alleged “Money-Making” Scheme

The government has ordered a full freeze on BIR field audits — including new Letters of Authority (LOAs) — after allegations surfaced that some collections weren’t reaching the government.

What this means for businesses:

• Temporary relief from new audits
• Time to clean up books & compliance
• Expect possible reforms in BIR processes
• Investigation now underway

This move aims to push for transparency, accountability, and a fairer audit system for everyone.

Finally: A Pause in BIR Field Audits

The Department of Finance and the Bureau of Internal Revenue just announced a temporary suspension of all BIR field audits, Letters of Authority (LOAs), and Mission Orders (MOs).

Yes — ALL field audits are paused for now.

This decision came after many taxpayers raised concerns about irregularities and inconsistencies in the audit process. The government is finally taking a step back to review and fix the system.

Here’s what this means:

🔹 No new LOAs or MOs for now
🔹 Ongoing field audits are paused (with a few exceptions like criminal cases, near-prescription audits, and refund audits)
🔹 A big opportunity for businesses to organize their books and strengthen compliance
🔹 Expect improved and more transparent audit processes soon

For many business owners, this is a relief — and honestly, a long overdue reset.

Let’s use this time to clean up our documentation, fix gaps, and get our compliance in order before the new guidelines roll out.
