The 27.121 MWdc Dagohoy Solar Power Plant (DSPP), the first large utility-scale solar plant in Bohol province, is set for commercial operations on July 16, 2025. This followed the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) approval on July 4, 2025 of the plant’s ’ Provisional Authority to Operate (PAO) and the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines’ (IEMOP) approval on July 8 of the facility’s commercial operations date in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

PGEC AVP for Power Markets Dave P. Gadiano said, “We are proud that our Dagohoy solar power facility is set to begin commercial operations in Bohol, adding much needed indigenous and clean energy in the province which has long relied on imported power from neighboring provinces and a few small capacity diesel and hydro power plants operating in the province. This milestone not only increases Bohol’s energy security but also boosts the provincial government’s efforts to make Bohol a premier ecotourism destination in the country. Our formal commercial participation in the WESM also marks the commencement of our power supply agreement with our offtaker SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP).”

Champion - Mapua University School of EECE will represent the Philippines in the ASEAN AI Hackathon in Tokyo. The team's project is ReCap, a Microsoft Teams app that helps make meetings more accessible for individuals with disabilities, including those with hearing loss, ADHD, blindness, or social communication challenges. Likewise, the School of IT got second place. Their project, AccessPath AutoNav, is an AI-powered mobility pod that navigates obstacles such as cracked curbs and delivery carts using LIDAR, stereo cameras, UWB, and IMUS to map the environment in 3D.

Rizal Green Energy Corporation (RGEC) launched a pilot agrivoltaics project in its 19.6MWDC San Jose Solar Power Project (SJSPP) in Nueva Ecija. Done in collaboration with the Central Luzon State University and San Jose City Agriculture Office, this is the first agrivoltaic system of its kind built in San Jose City. Spanning 2,750 sqm and divided into three sections, the project cultivates vegetables, herbs, and ornamental plants in planting beds directly below 588 solar panels that are mounted up to 2 meters above the ground. The project aims to promote the synergy between renewable energy generation and food production.
