WIMAS continues to engage maritime partners in practical discussions that move beyond inspection compliance toward stronger preparedness, safer operations, and operational excellence.

The session with ALSTER focused on current 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀, particularly the important role of shore-based teams in supporting vessels before and during inspections. Beyond compliance: preparing shore teams to support safer operations and stronger vessel performance.

The World Institute of Maritime Advanced Studies (WIMAS) Inc. is conducting a RightShip Requirements Compliance Awareness Campaign for Crew Managers, Training Officers, Superintendents, and other shore-based personnel involved in vessel readiness and operational support.

The sessions will focus on the role of shore staff in supporting successful inspections onboard, emerging inspection trends, recurring observations, and how stronger ship–shore coordination can contribute to safer operations and enhanced commercial performance.

AI will not replace seafarers, but seafarers who know how to use AI responsibly will be better prepared for the future of shipping.

The future of shipping will still depend on people — trained, disciplined, ethical, resilient, and ready to adapt. Ships may become smarter, systems may become more digital, and technology may change how we learn and work, but the seafarer remains at the center of safe and successful shipping.

At WIMAS, we believe technology should strengthen the human element, not replace it.

AI can support learning, simulation, assessment, familiarization, safety training, and continuous development. But it must be guided by clear policy, professional discipline, and sound human judgment.

This is why maritime education must go beyond teaching tools. It must develop critical thinking, ethics, grit, and confidence in seafarers who will face increasingly complex ships and operations.

It is also why maritime instructors matter more than ever. AI can provide information, but teachers shape competence, values, professionalism, and decision-making.
