PITC and Bureau of Immigration Strengthen Partnership Through Countertrade in Government Procurement

The Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) formalized their commitment to strengthen countertrade in government procurement through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on September 11, 2026.

The partnership aims to explore strategic countertrade opportunities in appropriate BI procurement activities, consistent with Executive Order No. 120, series of 1993, and applicable government procurement laws, policies, and regulations.

Through this collaboration, government procurement can go beyond meeting institutional requirements and become a platform for creating greater trade and economic value for the country—including opportunities for market access, technology transfer, investments, and support for Philippine enterprises.

The MOA was signed by BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado and PITC President and CEO Mary Mercado Tong, reflecting the agencies’ shared commitment to innovation, collaboration, and maximizing the strategic value of government procurement.

PITC appreciates the Bureau of Immigration for its partnership and looks forward to translating this commitment into concrete countertrade opportunities that strengthen trade linkages and contribute to Philippine economic development.

PITC Strengthens Partnerships with LGUs through Agency-to-Agency Procurement

The Philippine International Trading Corporation (PITC) strengthened its collaboration with Local Government Units (LGUs) through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOAs) for Agency-to-Agency procurement.

The participating LGUs include the Municipality of Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay, represented by Mayor Jouie T. Balladares the Municipality of Rizal, Zamboanga del Norte, represented by Mayor Marissa D. Manigsaca; and the Municipality of Mutia, Zamboanga del Norte, represented by Mayor Lorrymir S. Adasa.

Through these agreements, PITC will provide procurement support to help address the LGUs’ requirements for goods and services, drawing on its experience in strategic sourcing, supplier coordination, and procurement facilitation while promoting efficiency, transparency, accountability, and value for money.

The MOA signings reaffirm PITC’s commitment to providing reliable procurement solutions that support the effective delivery of programs, projects, and essential services to local communities.

The recognition celebrates President Tong’s leadership and commitment to transparent governance, accountability, and meaningful public service as she continues to advance PITC’s mandate in international trade and government procurement.

PITC was honored to be warmly welcomed by the Coconut Farmer Cooperatives (CFCs) from the Bicol Region under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) on August 19, 2026, at the Philippine Trade Training Center, Pasay City.
