Zypher Jude G. Regencia, Chief Research Officer & Principal, alongside fellow researchers, recently published a study in Discover Public Health exploring HIV perceptions and the educational impact of Battle in the Bloodโa mobile health game designed to promote HIV awareness. This was part of his UNSW-Sydney Kirby Institute CHART Program Fellowship for HIV.
The study examines how gamified learning can influence awareness, attitudes, and reflections on HIV among key populations in the Philippines.
Key insights include:
โข Mobile gaming can support HIV education and awareness
โข Gamified experiences help humanize people living with HIV (PLHIV)
โข Opportunities exist to further enhance inclusivity and engagement in health games
โข Digital tools can play a role in reducing stigma and improving outreach
The research highlights the potential of innovative, user-informed digital solutions in strengthening HIV education and public health strategies.
