♻️✨ Another milestone from last week’s 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 (CFCPH)! 🌿🧵

We’re grateful to our partners at DOST - PTRI and UC San Diego for an inspiring Innovation Dialogue that explored how research & development, bioinspired design, technical training, and technology transfer can work together to advance sustainable textiles, circular innovation, industry-driven solutions, and impact creativepreneurship.

Together, we’re weaving pathways for research, innovation, and impact that will benefit both the fashion and textile industries and communities in the Philippines. 👕💡

𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿! ✨ In celebration of 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, Wear Forward and Fashion Revolution Philippines, in partnership with KMC Solutions, and supported by Minor Figures, We Eat Organic, and Mang Juan Republic, bring you a first-of-its-kind consultation workshop for Filipino fashion revolutionaries! 🇵🇭

The Philippine and industry faces challenges such as waste management, market competitiveness, consumer awareness, and policy support and regulation, among others. Although there are already circular economy (CE) initiatives in the country now, we still lack a nationally-led, long-term, integrated, and holistic-approach CE roadmap.

👣 This workshop aims to bring industry stakeholders together and foster collaboration to discuss the current landscape of our local industry, assess the newly developed frameworks and roadmaps, share firsthand insights and experiences, and kick-start the co-creation of a collaborative and comprehensive roadmap to advance circularity, innovation, and sustainable growth in the textile and fashion industry of the Philippines.

This roadmap will guide the national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, private enterprises, academic institutions, fashion brands, designers, and other stakeholders across the value chain in shaping their policies, plans, and projects.

WEAR WE ARE: The Clothing Story

THE DILEMMA.

Do yo_ see yo_r clothes piling _p in yo_r closet and realize yo_ have more than eno_gh? Th_s, many of yo_r clothes end _p not being worn in a long time or not being worn at all anymore.

The fashion ind_stry is one of the most poll_ting ind_stries in the world and we are a part of the reason why. In November 2017, the Ellen MacArth_r Fo_ndation’s Circ_lar Fibres Initiative fo_nd o_t that one garbage tr_ck of used or unsold clothes is b_rned or sent to the landfills every second. F_rthermore, a Yo_Gov research released that same year noted that almost 1/3 of Filipinos have thrown an item of clothing away after wearing it j_st once.

The _ns_stainable practices of prod_cers and the _ns_stainable p_rchase, cons_mption, and disposal behavior of cons_mers are the negative impacts of fast fashion.
