(3) Maintenance & Engineering Personnel

I. Job Description
Involves checking, repairing and servicing machinery, equipment, systems and infrastructures. Responsible for working on a wide variety of machines, such as those used in the manufacturing, and heating/cooling or food preparation industries. They perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot problems and make repairs as needed.
REPORTING TO: Managing Director, M&E Manager
II. Duties & Responsibilities
a. Make sure that equipment is working and not in danger of breaking down.
b. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machines to keep them running smoothly which include replacing worn parts and checking oil and other fluid levels.
c. Responsible for troubleshooting the problem and assessing whether parts can be repaired or need to be replaced, likewise ordering and installing replacement parts.
d. Make any required upgrades or changes to established systems to improve or prolong efficiency.
e. Install new equipment and to perform checks following installation to ensure that all systems are in working order.
III. Job Specifications
A. Educational Attainment
High school graduate/ College graduate with Degree from a vocational school will be a plus
B. Minimum Experience
2 years minimum experience but not totally required
C. Knowledge & Skills
a. Understanding electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, heating and electronic systems
b. Troubleshooting problems on various types of equipment
c. Understanding how to read blueprints and system schematics
d. Knowing equipment safety systems and processes
e. Knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines and standards
f. Understand how to handle and dispose of hazardous materials

(1) Microbiologist

I. Job Description

Works in a variety of capacities, but primarily in product development and food quality control and inspection. Perform several important roles in leading studies to assess product stability and lifetime. The work typically involves taking samples of food products -- both during production and after product packaging -- and testing the samples in the lab for the presence of specific pathological bacteria.
REPORTING TO: Managing Director, QA Manager, Chief Operating Officer (COO)

II. Duties & Responsibilities
a. Organize the ongoing operation of the microbiological facilities.
b. Provide advice to the other departments within the facility.
c. Provide advice to plant/facility hygiene.
d. Ensure that the facility complies with the regulatory requirements.
e. Monitor water management requirements.
f. Support business development by providing information to stakeholders.
g. Support product development and facility upgrades.

III. Job Specifications
A. Educational Attainment
College Graduate with Degree in in microbiology or biology, chemistry

B. Minimum Experience
Must have 1-2 years minimum experience

C. Knowledge & Skills
a. Comprehensive knowledge best practices and drive to improve those practices where necessary
b. High-level written and verbal communication skills
c. Ability to prioritize, schedule and organize laboratory tests
d. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
e. Computer literacy
f. Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to identify information that is particularly important to the business
g. Ability to notice food safety issues at every stage of the production process

The DA-BFAR through the National Coordinating Unit-Seaweed Development Program conducted a meeting with the seaweed processors/exporters/traders/buyers and farmers on how to address the looming crisis of skyrocketing price of Raw Dried Seaweeds (RDS) in the market due to its shortage at Cebu Region VII.
