We admire people at the moment they succeed.
God often does His deepest work long before anyone sees the outcome.
Saul is one of the clearest examples.
Before he became the apostle Paul...
Before he preached.
Before he planted churches.
Before he wrote letters that would shape generations of Christians...
He spent three days blind.
Unable to see.
Unable to move forward on his own.
Completely dependent on someone else to lead him.
That wasn't the end of his story.
It was the beginning of God's preparation.
Jesus already knew Saul's calling.
He called him "My chosen instrument."
But before Saul could carry God's message to others, he first had to learn that he couldn't carry himself.
That challenged me.
We often pray,
"Lord, use me."
But we rarely pray,
"Lord, humble me."
Yet many times, those two prayers lead to the same place.
God isn't interested in producing self-made disciples.
He's forming people who know their strength comes from Him.
So if you're in a season where your plans have fallen apart...
Where your confidence has been shaken...
Or where you feel more dependent on God than ever before...
Don't assume He's forgotten you.
He may be preparing you.
Because sometimes God's greatest work in us begins when our confidence in ourselves comes to an end.
