1. The power of compound interest: Compound interest is the magical force that allows the rich to get richer. It's the idea that when you earn interest on your money, you also earn interest on the interest you've already earned. This means that your money has the potential to grow exponentially over time.

2. The rich invest in assets: The rich don't just hoard their money; they invest it in assets that appreciate in value. This could include stocks, bonds, real estate, or other investments. By investing their money wisely, the rich can grow their wealth much faster than if they simply kept it in a bank account.

3. The rich live below their means: Contrary to popular belief, the rich aren't constantly spending money on luxury items. In fact, many of the richest people in the world live relatively modest lifestyles. They spend less than they earn and invest the rest, which allows their wealth to compound over time.

4. The rich take advantage of tax breaks: The rich have access to tax breaks and loopholes that the average person doesn't. They can use these advantages to reduce their tax liability and keep more of their money.

5. The rich have multiple streams of income: The rich don't rely on a single source of income. They often have multiple streams, such as a job, investments, or a business. This diversification can provide them with a safety net and help them weather financial storms.

6. The rich are risk-takers: The rich are not afraid to take risks. They understand that risk is often associated with great rewards. They're willing to put their money into new ventures, invest in emerging markets, and even start their own businesses.

7. The rich never give up: The rich are never satisfied with their current level of success. They're constantly striving to improve and grow their wealth. They're also very persistent and resilient, never giving up on their goals even in the face of setbacks.

I hope you find these lessons helpful.

Muhammad Ali said, "I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."

I think You should always think long-term. A few months of sacrifices will earn you a lifetime of benefits. People who train everyday donโ€™t want to train everyday, they are not motivated to train everyday. Everyday I do still things even I donโ€™t feel like doing. Itโ€™s called discipline ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

The wrong sacrificeโ€ฆ I canโ€™t say enough about thisโ€ฆ In a job where we preach sacrifice, we sometimes sacrifice the wrong things in the โ€œname of service.โ€ You should not be sacrificing your family at the expense of being a good firefighter. This is a crucial imbalance that needs to be addressed immediately if this is you. Your wife, husband, and kids come first ladies and gents. Not second to a career that will ask for everything, but may give you nothing in return.

While this job is rewarding and I enjoy it, my priority is being a present husband and father. Not a good fireman that is knowingly putting his/her family on the back burner to pursue a dream. You want to pursue a dream? Pursue being present at home while being a good firefighter, thatโ€™s the dream. Thatโ€™s the goal. I donโ€™t know anyone that got married in the fire service whoโ€™s goal was divorce. I get that it happens, but it ainโ€™t the goal.

Ten years ago I almost lost my family to this place by my own hands. I had a lot of mental health challenges due to a deployment with the military and my empathy tank for anyone outside the job was freaking empty. I gave it all to the citizens and would go home with nothing. I poured everything I had into the fire department. I would go home with nothing for my family. I was a shell of a human when I wasnโ€™t at work, waiting to go back to work. I was a good fireman, but lacked some serious balance.

The wife and kids just wanted me present mentally, physically and emotionally. So, I had to be honest with myself and work on things. I had to get things back on track and balance things to where I could serve my family and the community. I could be a good father, husband and fireman. It was possible to change, and worth it. Still balancing it out today, and my marriage and family have found what works for us.

You feel like you are making the wrong sacrifice? Address it. Address it now. This is the priority.

"How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk" by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish offers practical strategies for parents and caregivers to communicate effectively with children, fostering mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation.

Here are key lessons from the book

1. Acknowledge Feelings: Validate children's emotions by acknowledging their feelings without judgment or criticism. By empathizing with their emotions, parents can create a supportive and understanding environment.

2. Use Descriptive Language: Instead of labeling or judging children's behavior, describe what you see or feel without assigning blame. This helps children understand the consequences of their actions and encourages self-reflection.

3. Offer Choices: Give children choices whenever possible to empower them and encourage autonomy. By involving children in decision-making, parents can promote a sense of responsibility and cooperation.

4. Problem-Solving Skills: Teach children problem-solving skills by involving them in finding solutions to conflicts or challenges. Encourage brainstorming, listening to different perspectives, and working together to reach mutually acceptable solutions.

5. Active Listening: Practice active listening by giving children your full attention, making eye contact, and listening without interruption. Reflect back their feelings and thoughts to show that you understand and respect their perspective.

6. Limit Criticism and Praise: Avoid excessive criticism or praise, as both can be counterproductive. Instead, focus on specific feedback and encouragement that promotes intrinsic motivation and self-esteem.

7. Use Positive Reinforcement: Encourage positive behavior by using specific, descriptive praise and rewards. Focus on the effort and progress rather than the outcome, and be consistent in reinforcing desired behaviors.

8. Set Clear Boundaries: Establish clear and consistent rules and boundaries to provide structure and guidance for children. Communicate expectations calmly and respectfully, and enforce consequences when necessary.

9. Model Effective Communication: Lead by example by demonstrating respectful and effective communication skills in your interactions with others, including children. Show empathy, active listening, and problem-solving strategies in your own behavior.

10. Encourage Emotional Expression: Create a safe and supportive environment for children to express their emotions openly and honestly. Validate their feelings and help them develop healthy coping strategies for managing emotions.

11. Respect Individual Differences: Recognize and respect each child's unique temperament, interests, and needs. Adapt your communication style and parenting approach accordingly to support their individual development.

12. Foster Mutual Respect: Cultivate a relationship of mutual respect and trust with your children by treating them with dignity, empathy, and understanding. Show appreciation for their efforts and contributions, and value their opinions and perspectives.
