Good day! For those interested:

Introduction to Bioethics, an online course offered by Georgetown University through the online platform edX. This course explores the basic philosophical concepts in bioethics (autonomy, justice, etc.) and provides an overview of competing theories regarding key issues (abortion, surrogacy, euthanasia, "climate change", etc.), among others, taught by professors from the Georgetown University and the Kennedy Institute of Ethics.

We strongly advise anyone who decides to pursue this course to treat this for what it is, an introduction to basic concepts meant to guide further studies and readings, and not as a comprehensive guide to decision-making in actual bioethical situations, nor as the final word in key bioethical issues. As with other things of great significance, approach this with an open mind, a discerning heart, and a well-formed conscience. Questions and comments may be posted in this thread, or you may opt to message us directly.

The course is free, unless you want a verified certificate, and it's self-paced, meaning you can go through the contents of the course at your own liberty. The link below will redirect you to the course's main page.

Introduction to Bioethics explores some of the most difficult - and fascinating - moral challenges we face in health, medicine, and emerging technologies.

Professor John Keown on natural law ethics (http://buff.ly/2nFWUCn):

"The starting-point for natural law theory is to ask ‘What is the Good Life?’..."

"The answer given by natural law theory is that the Good Life is a life which involves true human fulfilment or flourishing. And what is a truly flourishing life? One in which one participates in the goods of life, health, friendship, knowledge, appreciation of art and beauty, work, play and practical reasonableness."

Learn more about at "Inquies Pro Medicina: Conversations on Science, Medicine, Law and Philosophy" on March 30 (Thursday), 5pm.
