Evasco (UE Law class 1975) distinguished himself in the public service with his pro bono cases and celebrated cases which have landed in the front pages of major national newspapers. Better known as “Attorney Waray”, he had been seen and heard over the years at RPN Channel 9, NBN Channel 4, RJTV Channel 29, UNTV, DZRH, DWIZ, DZAR, DZEC Radyo ng Bayan, and DZXL Radyo Mo Nationwide. His radio-TV pro
grams have helped many Filipinos especially laborers, overseas workers and homeless migrants. Among a few of his celebrated pro-bono cases involved the Chui massacre, Vizconde massacre, international terrorists, Angelica Jones versus Jojo Veloso, Sunflower informal settlers, Subic drug lords, and most recently, laborers against a huge Chinese conglomerate win more than P13-million judgment award. Among his awards include National Consumers Award for public service, Phoenix Award for public service from the Philippine Trial Lawyers Association, Distinguished Professional Service Awardee from the Beta Sigma Lambda, and Best Public Affairs Program Host for Direct Line RPN 9 at the 18th PMPC Star Awards for Television.
