It has since served as the shipmanagement arm of its parent company, the Southwest Maritime Corporation (SWMC), which was founded by an icon of the local shipping world – Filipino businessman, Mr. It was originally a joint venture between Southwest (SW) and Navix Line, thus the name SWAN. Swan specializes in the management of gas carriers, particularly the fully-pressurized and semi-refrigerated ones. It also has an extensive experience in managing product tankers plying the Philippines domestic trade and, for a short period of time, fully-refrigerated gas carriers in the international trade. Swan provides its technical services, mostly, to shipowners based in Japan and Singapore. And in the first quarter of 2020, a Philippines-based company has joined the list of the shipowners who put their trust with Swan.
