A presentation to the president. Mia's first day of school. Conducting a 5-hour training. They all taught me the same lesson.
The past few weeks have felt full.
One day, I was showcasing our work to one of the company leaders
Then next, I was presenting projects to the president Slides. Numbers. Months of work on the line.
Calm outsideโฆ but my mind was already running through every detail.
A few days later, Mia's first day of school!! ๐
I helped her get ready, showing up as a present mom. (Not to mention the days of me shopping for school supplies, school shoes, etc. during lunch breaks).
By the weekend, there was a birthday celebration to attend.
Then Father's Day.
Then came the day, I conducted a 5-hour hybrid training (mixed online and F2F trainees). Talking. Guiding. Showing up for people who needed me fully present.
Nothing extraordinary.
Just my busy life as a corporate mom, breadwinner mom, and a wife.
And in the middle of it all...I noticed something..
I started treating the night before differently.
I found myself putting my phone down earlier.
Not opening my laptop.
Choosing sleep instead of squeezing in one more episode, one more scroll.๐ด
Because each of those days deserved my best version, not the tired version of me.
Mia deserved a fully present mom on her first day.
My team deserved a data leader who was prepared.
The people attending the training deserved my energy and attention.
My family deserved someone who wasn't mentally somewhere else.
Lately, I'm learning that preparation sometimes looks like saying, "That's enough for today."
Turning off the lights.
Closing your eyes.
And just like how I prepare the night before an important day...
I'm preparing for our future today.
One lesson. One skill. One step at a time for my online business.
Because being a breadwinner mom means preparing for the things you hope never happen, while still making room for the dreams you hope do.
๐ฅ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ:
Whether it's for tomorrow or for the next 5-10 years...
You don't prepare for the big day when you wake up.
You prepare for it the night before.
