Preparedness begins with the simple things we can do today. 🎒
The UST Campus Safety and Security Office (UST-CSSO) encourages every member of the Thomasian Community to consider preparing a 24-Hour Personal Emergency Kit.
Certain emergencies may require us to shelter in place and remain on campus longer than expected. Transportation disruptions, severe weather, earthquakes, security incidents, and other unforeseen events may delay normal activities or our ability to safely leave the University.
A personal emergency kit can help provide for your basic individual needs for up to 24 hours while the University implements the appropriate emergency response and support measures.
We have prepared recommended kit guides for:
🎒 Junior and Senior High School Students
🎓 College Students
💼 University Staff — including a carry-on kit and a larger emergency reserve that may be kept at the workplace
These are recommended personal preparedness kits and may be adjusted according to individual needs, particularly for medication, dietary requirements, hygiene, and other personal necessities.
Remember: Your personal kit supports you. It does not replace the University’s emergency resources.
We encourage Thomasians and their families to use these guides to begin preparing, review existing emergency supplies, and keep their kits accessible and up to date.
Preparedness is a shared responsibility. A little preparation today can make a significant difference when the unexpected happens.
