DUMAGUETE IS 3RD MOST COMPETITIVE CITY IN THE VISAYAS

The City of Dumaguete is recognized as the 3rd Most Competitive City in the entire Visayas by the National Competitiveness Council of the Philippines based on the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index 2020 Rankings disclosed during the recently concluded 8th Regional Competitiveness Virtual Summit on December 16, 2020.

The cities in the Visayas regions were ranked based on an overall competitiveness scores as determined by the values of actual and complete data on 4 convergent pillars of local economic development and competitiveness, namely: economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure and resilience.

In 2018, Dumaguete City was conferred by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) the distinction as ranked 2nd in Government Efficiency among all component cities in the Philippines.

CMCI is an annual ranking of cities and municipalities across the country by the Department of Trade and Industry and the NCC with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.
Dumaguete City’s latest award is even made more special amid the dangers of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has affected the lives of so many but also manifested the dedication of our health workers and other frontliners.

The National Competitiveness Council was created through Executive Order No. 44 which aims to promote a more competitive Philippines and instill a culture of excellence, through public-private sector collaboration as means to reduce poverty through inclusive growth.
