THE WALLS THAT (almost) DISAPPEARED, but BRIEFLY
This year, we looked at the floor plan and thought: this is our widest space yet. Imagination ran wild! Then reality hit five minutes into assembly.
Murphy's Law arrived early. A few weeks early actually! When we learned the setup time was cut short. But we thought we'd survived that curveball. Then, four screws in, our only drill broke!
Two hours lost. Panic setting in. And we haven't even had coffee yet!
Three years with ArteFino movement. Three years of building a booth that's been moving. Expanding. This is not because we believe in walls between us, but because we believe in widening them apart until you forget they're even there. And it's happening but not as we planned!
Now.. 2 hours before the gates open. We were still standing there with half a booth, fingers as drills.
Then angels started showing us sensible thoughts and suggestions. The ones we lost when our drill broke.
Two drills materialized—borrowed or, lent, gifted by the kind souls who populate this maker community. I felt this is the true spirit of this movement.
So we assembled. Maybe not perfectly. Maybe just good enough for Day 1. But we did it together, the way everything worth building gets built.
Tomorrow, when you walk past our three-wall booth at The Fifth at Rockwell, you'll see kayak-made bags, stories from our waters, and years of learning how to work in circles.
What you won't see is the two hours of chaos, the broken drill, the angels who lent tools, and the reminder that when we create with community, you are never alone.
End of life is a new beginning.
Even for drills. Even for plans that briefly fall apart.
