Thinking of applying for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP)? Be careful—many applications are refused for one simple reason: applying too early.

Even if you’ve submitted your PR application and received an AOR, that doesn’t automatically mean you qualify.

In many cases, IRCC must first confirm:

✔ R10 completeness check passed (for Express Entry & QSWC)
✔ Eligibility is marked “Passed” or “Met” in GCMS (for paper-based PR)
✔ Required documents are properly submitted

One of the most overlooked steps? 👉 Checking your GCMS notes before applying for a BOWP. This can confirm whether your file is actually ready—or still not eligible.

A wrong move here can mean refusal, lost fees, and delays in your work authorization.

NO DEGREE? NO GRADE 12? You may STILL have a pathway to Canadian immigration 🇨🇦

Many Filipinos who finished only Grade 10 under the old Philippine curriculum think their immigration journey is over — especially if they never completed college.

But that’s not always true.

Ontario now offers adult education pathways like the CAEC (which replaced the GED), PLAR, and ACE programs that may help some workers meet education requirements for immigration, college upgrading, or apprenticeships.

This is especially important now as IRCC discusses major Express Entry changes for 2026.

If you’re already working in Canada in healthcare, caregiving, hospitality, food service, trucking, construction, or trades — this is something you need to understand.
