Did your connection slow down on Friday? You were not alone.
On October 2, the PhilippinesβSingapore segment of the C2C submarine cable went offline, and the PhilippinesβHong Kong link was also affected. Internet users nationwide experienced slow foreign websites, higher ping, video buffering, and dropped VPN and video calls. Local services were less affected.
Good news: the PhilippinesβSingapore segment has been reported fully restored, and major carriers have rerouted traffic through other cables. Speeds are returning to normal across most providers. The DICT is still investigating the cause.
