📢 Attention to Schools, Manufacturing Facilities, Water Refilling Stations, Research Institutions, Laboratories, and Other Establishments Conducting Chemical or Laboratory Activities
Please be reminded that under Republic Act No. 10657, otherwise known as the “Chemistry Profession Act,” chemical laboratories and related entities conducting chemical analysis, testing, quality control, research, and similar activities are required to comply with the law governing the practice of chemistry in the Philippines.
Under Sections 38 and 39 of R.A. 10657:
✔ No chemical laboratory or related firm shall operate without a valid Authority to Operate
✔ Laboratories conducting activities covered by the law must be supervised and headed by qualified and duly licensed chemistry professionals
✔ Chemical laboratories are required to operate under the responsibility and supervision of Licensed Chemists, in accordance with the provisions of the law and its Implementing Rules and Regulations
✔ Reports, analyses, and laboratory documents related to the practice of chemistry must bear the signature and license details of authorized professionals
Establishments operating laboratories without proper professional supervision may be exposed to regulatory findings during inspections, audits, or PRC compliance verification activities.
The law further provides penalties for violations, including:
⚠️ Fines ranging from ₱100,000 to ₱1,000,000
⚠️ Imprisonment ranging from one (1) month to one (1) year
⚠️ Or both, depending on the discretion of the court
