In the quiet municipality of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, the story of R M J Food Products Manufacturing stands as a testament to courage, determination, and unwavering hope. Behind this growing microenterprise is Mary Grace Danuco, a devoted mother whose journey reflects both strength and purpose. Driven by her desire to provide a better future for her child, she transformed a simple passion for cooking into a meaningful livelihood.
Mary Grace began her banana chips business in 2025 with the support of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP). What started as a small venture offering caramelized banana chips soon became a source of stability for her family. Despite being a stroke survivor and facing physical limitations, she refused to let her condition define her path. Instead, she pressed on with determination, proving that resilience can overcome even the toughest challenges.
Her journey, however, was far from easy. Experimenting with new flavors and achieving the perfect crispiness of her banana chips required patience and persistence. Many attempts did not meet her expectations, but Mary Grace continued to learn and improve. Through trial and error, she eventually succeeded in enhancing both her process and her product quality. Today, her offerings have expanded to include BBQ, sour cream, and cheese flavorsโappealing to a wider range of customers and showcasing her commitment to innovation.
A turning point in her entrepreneurial journey came when she attended the Product Enhancement Seminar conducted by Negosyo Center Nasipit. The training opened her eyes to the importance of product development, quality improvement, and market positioning. With further assistance, she was able to acquire a professionally designed label for her productsโan upgrade that significantly improved her brand identity. The enhanced packaging not only made her products more attractive but also strengthened customer trust and allowed her banana chips to stand out in the market.
Through continuous learning and perseverance, Mary Grace steadily grew her enterprise into what is now known as R M J Food Products Manufacturing. For her, every training attended and every lesson learned adds value to her journey, helping her build a more sustainable and competitive business.
She shares a meaningful reminder to fellow entrepreneurs:
โAng pagnegosyo dili lang kalambuan para sa pamilya, kundili kalaamboan usab sa atong lungsod.โ
(Entrepreneurship is not only for the progress of oneโs family, but also for the development of the community.)
Mary Grace Danucoโs story is a powerful reflection of resilience, faith, and continuous growth. From humble beginnings to a promising enterprise, her journey continues to inspire aspiring entrepreneursโproving that with determination, learning, and the right support, even the smallest beginnings can lead to meaningful success.
