๐๐”๐†๐’๐€๐ˆ ๐“๐๐ˆ ๐”๐ฉ๐๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ | The DOST-DNSC BUGSAI TBI, in partnership with the Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU) Innovation Office, successfully conducted a Design Thinking Workshop for faculty members, researchers, students, and industry partners on June 11, 2026, at Davao Oriental State University in Mati City.

The workshop formed part of the ๐ƒ๐Ž๐’๐“-๐ƒ๐๐’๐‚ ๐๐”๐†๐’๐€๐ˆ ๐“๐๐ˆ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐œ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐‘๐จ๐š๐๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฐ โ€“ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฏ๐š๐จ ๐Ž๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐‹๐ž๐ , an initiative aimed at promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup development across Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Davao Region.The activity also served as a platform to raise awareness of BUGSAI TBIโ€™s programs and services, and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the academic and innovation ecosystem.

Representing BUGSAI TBI in the five-day Train-the-Trainers Program were ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐—ฅ๐—ผ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—”. ๐—š๐˜‚๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ ๐—๐—ฟ., TBI Manager; ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐—๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฃ. ๐—•๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜† ๐—๐—ฟ., MIS โ€“ TBI Member; and ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—ฟ ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜…๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—›๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ผ, IT Staff.

The intensive workshop provided the BUGSAI TBI team with hands-on technical instruction and pedagogical training on blockchain technology, Ethereum, smart contracts, decentralized applications, and Web3 concepts. Throughout the program, participants engaged in lectures, technical demonstrations, practical exercises, and collaborative development sessions that strengthened their understanding of blockchain systems and their real-world applications.

As part of the training outputs, the participants developed decentralized applications and worked on blockchain-based capstone projects using Ethereum and smart contract technology. The team also pitched its capstone project, ๐—ฅ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฒ๐—ฃ๐—› ๐—”๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—–๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป, a blockchain-powered concept designed to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency in aid distribution and beneficiary verification.

Organized by the Davao DeFi Community in collaboration with Davao del Sur State College, Lisk Ltd., Ethereum Philippines, and Pelita Bangsa Academy, the seminar carried the theme โ€œ๐‘ฉ๐’๐’๐’„๐’Œ๐’„๐’‰๐’‚๐’Š๐’ ๐‘พ๐’๐’“๐’Œ๐’”๐’‰๐’๐’‘: ๐‘ฌ๐’Ž๐’‘๐’๐’˜๐’†๐’“๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ ๐‘ฌ๐’…๐’–๐’„๐’‚๐’•๐’๐’“๐’” ๐’Š๐’ ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ท๐’‰๐’Š๐’๐’Š๐’‘๐’‘๐’Š๐’๐’†๐’”.โ€ The activity gathered educators, technology advocates, and innovation enablers to strengthen blockchain education and digital transformation initiatives in the country.

With the completion of the Train-the-Trainers Program, the BUGSAI TBI team are now equipped to conduct blockchain-related learning sessions for its future incubatees, fellow DNSC stakeholders, students, faculty, and innovation partners. This milestone strengthens BUGSAI TBIโ€™s capacity to introduce emerging technologies into its incubation programs, startup support mechanisms, and community-based innovation initiatives.

Through this participation, BUGSAI TBI continues to sail forward in advancing digital transformation, empowering local innovators, and building a stronger startup ecosystem through technology-driven learning.
