Classes had been suspended because of the storm. Dr. Virgie de Chavez, an elderly Education professor, had already announced online that their scheduled exam would not push through.
Still, she went to the college gate and waited.
She worried that one student, especially a scholar with limited internet access, might not have received the advisory and might brave the storm just to take the exam.
She knew that a message sent is not always a message received.
So she waited, not because she expected anyone to come, but because one student might.
Perhaps that is what a real teacher is: someone who refuses to leave even one student behind.
