PARA SA NAGTUTURO
A Coach Mentorship Outreach
Over the past several years, I have received requests from young coaches for tips and training on how to improve their coaching skills. With the proliferation of online education and master classes, and with the IATF about to allow the resumption of basketball practices, I thought that this would be a good time to coach other coaches. For those who are interested, from now until the end of the month, I will select 12 young coaches from different provinces and mentor them on the how to become a more complete basketball coach, at absolutely no cost to them.
Beginning this August 7th, we will tackle everything they need to know about player development, team-building, skills training, practice planning, scouting, game preparation, tactics, defensive concepts, offensive systems, mental toughness and mastering resilience, plus anything else the participants wish to cover – what is all about via 8 weekly virtual sessions.
This is an outreach. We want to provide training for those who otherwise would not have the opportunity to gain access to a program like this. As such, we will prioritize male or female coaches between 21 and 29 years old, never before been part of the coaching staff of a team that has participated in any of the established high school or college tournaments, commercial leagues, or club championships. In other words, we are looking for passionate, driven head or assistant coaches of teams that are not in any of the 'big leagues' or tournaments around the country.
To apply, simply submit here via Messenger a maximum 500-word essay or 1-minute video on why you or your coach deserves to be included in this program. Tell us your background – date of birth, education, where you’re coaching, for how long, etc; but we’re more interested in WHY you’re coaching. Let us know your dreams, purpose, passion, and what for you, is all about. We will come out with the final list of 12 before the end of the month.
