Privilege is like being given a perfectly ripened avocado — you didn't ask for it, you didn't necessarily earn it, but here it is, creamy and ready to elevate your toast. The tricky part is realizing that not everyone gets an avocado, and some folks are out here trying to make guacamole with a stone.
Having privilege doesn't mean I need to feel guilty for my good fortune, but it does mean recognizing that my avocado could do more than just be a topping on my bread. It means taking that smooth, green goodness and sharing it, helping others taste what I have.
Responsibility, then, is the toast that holds everything together. Sure, I can enjoy my avocado straight from the skin with a spoon, but isn't it more satisfying when you spread it out and make a meal that can be shared?
When you use your privilege to build up others, you're not just hoarding avocados but creating a feast that everyone can enjoy.
So, let's toast (pun absolutely intended) to a life where we acknowledge our privilege, accept our responsibility, and spread some goodness around. After all, the world could always use more avocado toast moments.
