Altai Philippines Mining Corporation (APMC) conducted a mangrove tree planting activity on September 29, 2026 at its designated coastal planting site in Sibuyan.

A total of 80 mangrove seedlings were planted, with 20 APMC personnel taking part in site preparation, planting, and post-planting activities.

The initiative supports the enhancement of coastal habitats and natural shoreline protection, while strengthening environmental awareness and participation among APMC personnel.

For APMC, environmental stewardship goes beyond planting—it also means monitoring, maintaining, and helping ensure the long-term establishment of the seedlings.

Nagpapasalamat ang Altai Philippines Mining Corporation (APMC) sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), sa pangunguna ni Assistant Secretary Atty. Norlito Eneran, sa pagsasagawa ng site inspection at community consultation kaugnay ng activities ng APMC sa Sibuyan Island, Romblon.

Nagpapasalamat din kami kay Romblon Governor Trina Firmalo-Fabic, sa DENR MIMAROPA Regional Office sa pangunguna ni Regional Executive Director Felix Mirasol, Jr., Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Lands Geological Survey Division sa pangunguna ni Dr. Kevin Garas, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) Assistant Director Mariglo Rosaida I. Laririt, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) sa pangunguna ni Caesar Quebec, Protected Area Superintendent Joybert Mijares, mga lokal na opisyal ng pamahalaan, mga community leader, at mga residente ng Taclobo at España na nakiisa sa mga isinagawang aktibidad.

Naniniwala kami na ang community consultation at site inspection ay nagbibigay-daan upang marinig ang iba’t ibang pananaw at malayang mapag-usapan ang mga impormasyon tungkol sa geology ng Sibuyan at ang kasalukuyang exploration status nito.

Para sa APMC, ipinapakita ng mga aktibidad na ito ang kahalagahan ng pakikinig, dayalogo, at makabuluhang pakikipag-ugnayan sa aming mga stakeholder. Itinuturing namin itong pagkakataon upang matuto mula sa mga komunidad at higit pang mapagtibay ang aming commitment sa pagiging bukas, transparent, at magalang sa aming pakikipag-ugnayan.

Kasabay nito, ang APMC ay kasalukuyang nasa ilalim ng bagong pamunuan na nagsusulong ng panibagong direksyon para sa kumpanya—nakatuon sa patuloy na pagpapahusay ng aming mga proseso, maayos na pagkumpleto ng mga kinakailangang permit at regulatory requirements, pagpapatupad ng responsableng environmental at operational standards, at pagpapalakas ng pakikipag-ugnayan sa pamahalaan at mga komunidad.

Altai Philippines Mining Corporation (APMC) welcomes any legitimate inquiry into matters concerning its activities in Sibuyan Island. We view such inquiries as an opportunity to present the facts, clarify misconceptions, and allow the appropriate government authorities and the public to better understand the nature and status of the Company’s activities.

At present, APMC’s activities in Sibuyan are limited to care and maintenance activities, and the preparation of technical studies in accordance with applicable government requirements. The Company holds a valid Mineral Production Sharing Agreement (MPSA) with the Philippine Government, and APMC stands with the government in upholding its commitments under this agreement — not only to the people of Sibuyan, but to the Filipino people who stand to benefit from the responsible development of the country’s mineral resources. We reiterate that APMC has not commenced commercial mining operations.

APMC likewise categorically denies allegations of “militarization” of its operations. There are no military forces involved in the conduct of the Company’s activities. We recognize the importance of maintaining peace and order and respecting the rights of all Sibuyanons, including those who may have concerns about the proposed project. Any issues involving law enforcement personnel should be addressed through the appropriate authorities and established legal processes, based on facts and evidence.

APMC respects the right of every Sibuyanon to express an opinion about mining and the future of the island. At the same time, we believe that those who see responsible mineral development as a potential source of employment, livelihood, and economic opportunity deserve to have their voices heard as well. These aspirations deserve to be part of a fair, balanced, and evidence-based discussion about Sibuyan’s future.

Sa usapin ng clean energy, solar panels, electric vehicles, at batteries ang madalas nating naiisip. Pero alam ba natin kung saan nanggagaling ang mga mineral na kailangan para magawa ang mga ito?

Sa Executive Order No. 122 (EO 122), inilatag ng national government ang isang malinaw na policy framework para sa pagpapaunlad ng Critical Minerals Industry, mula sa clean energy transition at energy security, hanggang sa industrialization, economic growth, at responsible development.

Pero ano nga ba talaga ang ibig sabihin ng EO 122 para sa mining industry at sa bansa? At paano nito pinapadali ang permitting process, kabilang ang koordinasyon sa Local Government Units (LGUs)?
