IEMOP Welcomes UP Institute for the Administration of Justice for WESM Briefing and Courtesy Visit

The Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP) welcomed representatives from the University of the Philippines Institute for the Administration of Justice (UP IAJ) for a courtesy visit and briefing on the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

Led by IEMOP President and CEO Robinson Descanzo, the session provided an overview of WESM operations and insights into the Philippine electricity market, fostering knowledge exchange and a deeper understanding of the energy market trends – helping UP IAJ on their hopes and initiatives of having a MCLE specializing on energy practice.

IEMOP remains committed to supporting educational initiatives and strengthening collaboration with academic and professional institutions.

As part of EE 191 Fundamentals of Electricity Markets, an elective course offered by DEE, the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines, Inc. (IEMOP) delivered online lectures on Reserve Markets and Renewable Energy Markets on 05 October 2026 via Zoom.

Engr. Paul Andrew Dean, Corporate Planning and Communications Analyst at IEMOP, delivered a lecture on the Renewable Energy Market Overview.

Engr. Arjon Valencia (DEE alumnus), Corporate Planning and Communications Head and Manager at IEMOP, delivered a lecture on the Reserve Market Overview.

Also in attendance from IEMOP was Engr. Rianah Kate Togado (DEE Alumna).
