ILLEGAL LPG TRADING OPERATION BUSTED; PRO6 ARRESTS INDIVIDUAL IN BAROTAC VIEJO
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) arrested a 20-year-old individual during an entrapment operation against the illegal trading and refilling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Barangay San Lucas, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo on July 16, 2026.
The operation, carried out by personnel of the Regional Special Operations Group–Regional Intelligence Division 6 (RSOG-RID6), in coordination with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, Barotac Viejo Municipal Police Station, 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, and the Barotac Viejo Fire Station, led to the arrest of the suspect for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 11592, or the LPG Industry Regulation Act, and Presidential Decree No. 1865, which penalizes the illegal trading of LPG products.
Recovered during the operation were LPG tanks, filled and empty butane gas canisters, an improvised refilling regulator, a weighing scale, and marked money used during the entrapment. The total estimated value of the seized LPG products and refilling paraphernalia reached ₱30,070.00.
PRO6 Acting Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, emphasized that the operation highlights the importance of protecting the public from unsafe and unauthorized LPG activities.
"Hindi lang ito usapin ng paglabag sa batas. Ang ilegal na pagre-refill at pagbebenta ng LPG ay maaaring magdulot ng seryosong panganib sa buhay at ari-arian. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating operasyon laban sa mga ganitong gawain upang mapanatiling ligtas ang ating mga komunidad," PBGEN Tuaño said.
He also reminded the public to purchase LPG products only from legitimate and authorized dealers and to immediately report any suspected illegal LPG refilling or trading activities to the nearest police station or local authorities.
"Ang pakikipagtulungan ng komunidad ay napakahalaga. Kung may napapansin kayong kahina-hinalang bentahan o refilling ng LPG, huwag mag-atubiling ipagbigay-alam sa inyong kapulisan. Sama-sama nating pangalagaan ang kaligtasan ng bawat pamilya," he added.
This successful operation reflects PRO6's continuing commitment to The PRO6 Way towards "Responsive, Trusted, and Transformative Policing for a Safer Western Visayas" through strengthened law enforcement efforts, community-oriented policing, and service-driven initiatives aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda and the vision of "Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman" under the leadership of PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.
