My name is Keneth Talosig, and I am a Computer Engineering student. I would like to share my journey, the lessons I learned, and the experiences that helped me grow during my college life.
My interest in technology started when I was very young. Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by gadgets. One of my earliest memories was when I was around seven years old. My father would let me use his laptop and teach me how to type. What makes me laugh whenever I remember it is that I was already able to type my complete name on the keyboard. It may seem like a small achievement, but for me, it was the beginning of my curiosity about computers and technology.
As I grew older, that curiosity became a passion. When it was time to choose a college program, I decided to take Computer Engineering because I wanted to understand how technology works and how it can be used to solve real-world problems.
College life was not always easy. Like many students, I faced challenges in balancing academic requirements, projects, examinations, and personal responsibilities. There were times when I struggled with programming, circuit design, and technical subjects that required patience and continuous learning. There were also moments when I doubted my abilities, especially when tasks became difficult or deadlines came all at once.
However, these challenges taught me valuable lessons. I learned that success is not about knowing everything from the start. It is about being willing to learn, ask questions, make mistakes, and improve. Every challenge became an opportunity to grow, and every failure became a lesson that helped me move forward.
One of the most meaningful parts of my college journey was meeting new people. At the beginning, many of us were strangers, coming from different schools and backgrounds. Through group projects, laboratory activities, organizations, and school events, I built friendships that became an important part of my college experience. These friendships taught me the value of teamwork, communication, and supporting one another during difficult times.
College also gave me opportunities to develop my leadership skills. I learned that leadership is not only about giving instructions or being in front of a group. Leadership is about taking responsibility, helping others, listening to different ideas, and working together toward a common goal. Through various activities and projects, I gained confidence in guiding teams, solving problems, and encouraging others to contribute their best.
As a Computer Engineering student, I discovered that our field is more than just computers. It combines hardware, software, innovation, and problem-solving. It allows us to create systems, develop technologies, and contribute solutions that can improve people's lives. Every lesson, project, and challenge helped me appreciate how important technology is in today's world.
To students who are considering Computer Engineering, I encourage you to explore this field. It is not always easy, but it is rewarding. You do not need to know everything before you start. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your curiosity, and your determination to keep going when things become difficult.
Computer Engineering has helped me grow not only as a student but also as a person. It taught me discipline, leadership, teamwork, resilience, and continuous learning. Looking back at the seven-year-old kid who proudly typed his full name on his father's laptop, I never imagined that simple moment would lead me to this path.
Today, I am grateful for every lesson, every challenge, every friendship, and every opportunity that college has given me. These experiences continue to shape who I am and who I hope to become in the future.
