On September 24, 2026, the Western Philippines University – Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (WPU-ATBI) conducted a Capacity-Building and Organizational Development Activity for the officers and members of the 𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐂𝐀𝐅𝐀) in Barangay Cabayugan, Puerto Princesa City.

Anchored on the theme “𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝑻𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑻𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓: 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆, 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑶𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔,” the session focused on leadership, financial literacy, teamwork, and shared governance.

Rather than being simply a lecture, the activity provided participants with a space for open discussion and reflection on real, ground-level challenges. Together, they identified practical steps to strengthen organizational systems, improve participation, and encourage active member engagement.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩:

🌾 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝-𝐮𝐩 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Identifying organizational concerns through direct dialogue with both officers and members;
🤝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: Distributing responsibilities so that leadership does not rest on only a few individuals;
📅 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: Holding regular meetings and structured planning sessions;
🚜 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: Promoting the responsible use and routine care of communal machinery and equipment; and
💚 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Fostering discipline, mutual trust, transparency, and accountability across the organization.

A key milestone of the activity was the official signing of a 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐌𝐎𝐀) between WPU-ATBI and CAFA, formalizing a long-term commitment to empower local farming communities through science, technology, and sound management practices.

As part of this continuing support, 𝑴𝒓. 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑱𝒐𝒉𝒏 𝑪𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂, President of BBOA, received IEC materials, including promotional tarpaulins, on behalf of the association on September 8, 2026. These materials aim to enhance the association’s enterprise visibility and promotional efforts.

📸 LOOK: Skills Training on Bukayo and Cocojam Processing

On September 10, 2026, the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program partnered with WPU-ATBI to conduct a skills training on Bukayo and Cocojam Processing for the Manalo Cocopreneurs Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) in Brgy. Manalo, Puerto Princesa City.

The one-day activity featured Financial Management for Small Food Businesses, facilitated by Dr. Erma B. Miranda, Instructor III from the College of Business, Entrepreneurship and Hospitality Management (CBEHM); Packaging and Labelling, led by Ms. Maria Ana Caterina P. Alejandria, University Research Associate II of WPU-ATBI; and a Bukayo and Cocojam Processing Lecture and Workshop, spearheaded by Ms. Elleonor P. Abatay, University Research Associate I of WPU-ATBI.

The activity also included consultations on the SLPA’s existing packaging and label designs, as well as discussions on potential product development and improvement. The WPU-ATBI team, together with DSWD-SLP representatives Ms. Aileen Abique, Project Development Officer, and Mr. Moises Daniel S. Aban, Provincial Partnership Officer of SLP–Palawan, provided guidance and recommendations to support the association’s livelihood initiatives.

The association has actively participated in provincial events, including Baragatan last June, as well as various DSWD-MIMAROPA activities. Through this training, the team hopes to further strengthen their skills and capabilities, enabling them to enhance their products and take advantage of more opportunities to showcase and market their products.
