Isinalaysay ni dating DPWH undersecretary Roberto Bernardo ang naging pagkikita umano nila ni Senator Chiz Escudero, kasunod ng pagdawit niya rito sa isyu ng flood control projects.

“Sometime in 2023, Maynard Ngu told me to go to Cork and meet Senator Chiz Escudero, which I did. I met with the latter in a private room in the said establishment. While we were drinking wine, he told me, ‘Alam ko naman ang galawan n’yo d’yan sa DPWH. Okay naman ako, sabihin mo kay Sec. magbaba sa akin,’” saad niya Senate hearing nitong Huwebes, September 25, 2025.

Sinabi rin niya na ang P160 million umanong nakalaan para kay Escudero ay naibigay noong first quarter ng 2025.
