Happy Hive is 9 years old now! Yey, happy anniversary to us! 🥹🐝😌
If this was a kid, it would’ve been answering back with sarcastic remarks and trying hard to be nonchalant about things, even if they’re really giddy deep inside. This is also the age when they know more or less what they like, pursuing interests that are sometimes way beyond their parents’ understanding. There are lots of things that a 9-year-old has already experienced, but also so much more to expect in life.
This is Happy Hive in a nutshell, learning, growing, pursuing.
We have spent 9 years focusing on business permits, tax compliance, and building a business and community alongside our clients and partners. In the midst of that, there has also been a lot of impostor syndrome, guilt, sadness, and loss.
There was a time when we didn’t want to be called consultants because that meant we had to be experts. We didn’t realize that knowing the ins and outs, or, at the very least, knowing how to determine the ins and outs, of compliance work is actually very helpful for companies and communities, regardless of what we call ourselves.
The challenges made us. They didn’t break us. But they also clearly defined what we wanted for ourselves and for the company.
May point ako, pramis. Stay with me. 💅
From our early scrappy bootstrapping days in a 2-bedroom apartment that we converted into a coworking space, to a team of up to 26 people with 250+ (and counting) clients and seemingly endless projects, it’s overwhelming whenever we have the chance to pause and look at what we’ve done.
We’ve done a lot.

It’s time for us to focus on what we really want to do, and we’re starting this year with that.

This is the fruit of our existential crisis meetings and going back to asking ourselves why we started Happy Hive in the first place.
We wanted to help. Support. Make a difference. Reach more people. Advocate for a safe and inclusive workplace. Pay it forward, even from the start.
We wanted to be mothers and career women at the same time, while still having the space for other interests in life. We wanted to shoot for the stars and land on the moon.
We wanted it all.
But we couldn’t do it all, of course. Not at the same time. Not with limited resources and our worn-out focus.
So, here we are.
Happy Hive will be prioritizing our Building Safer Workplaces Program, which will include DOLE Compliance to Culture trainings, workshops, and seminars.
We will also be focusing on Business & Founder Advisory, including fractional operations support (CFO, management, assistance), estate and succession planning, and management and organizational consulting.
We’re still around. But after 9 years, we want something new, something that better aligns with our strengths, advocacies, and interests.

Almost a decade seems like a long time, but honestly, we keep telling ourselves that it feels like it just flew by.
The roller coaster ride has been fun.
We don’t wanna get off yet.
