Harvard University at Harvard Jeans? 🔍

In Fredco Manufacturing Corporation (Fredco) v. President and Fellows of Harvard College (Harvard University), the Court ruled that Fredco's use of the word "Harvard", along with "Cambridge, Massachusetts,” “Established 1936,” and “USA”, falsely suggested a connection to Harvard.

Since the Court declared that "Harvard" is a well-known mark, it is protected internationally under the Paris Convetion and the IP Code, enjoying protection in the Philippines even without local registration.💡🔒

Asin tibuok is the Philippines' 3rd registered local GI 🧂🥚

Bohol's asin tibuok has recently been recognized by the IPOPHL as a geographical indication (GI). Asin tibuok is an artisanal salt made through traditional production methods and whose shape has been described as a "dinosaur egg".

A GI certifies that a good comes from a specific place or has the qualities, reputation, or characteristics linked to the location or people who make them. The registration of local cultural products as GIs preserves culture, enhances their marketability, and deters imitation products.
