Unpopular opinion…

I’ll never be the girl excited to “settle down after traveling.”

Same routine every day. Ew.

Two weeks of vacation a year. Nope.

Waiting for someone else to be free. The worst.

Knowing exactly where I’ll be next month?
That sounds horrific.

I want night buses and hostel kitchens.

I want cheap flights and one-way tickets.

I want someone I met yesterday convincing me to change my entire route.

I want arriving alone and leaving with 7 new friends.

I want beaches, mountains, street food, random plans and “should we just stay another night?”

And yes, I want to compare hostels on the HOSTELZ App because paying €20 more for the same bunk is where I draw the line. 💀

5 SOLO BACKPACKING TIPS THAT SOUND WEIRD — UNTIL YOU TRY THEM. 🎒

1. Don’t plan your whole trip.
Book the first few nights. Leave gaps.
The best detours usually come from people you haven’t met yet.

2. Go sit in the hostel common room alone.
No phone. No headphones.
Looking slightly bored is basically an invitation for another solo traveler to talk to you.

3. Compare the exact same hostel before booking.
Same dorm. Same bunk. Different price.

4. Say yes BEFORE you feel social.
Hostel dinner? Walking tour? Random beach trip? Go.
You can leave whenever you want. Getting yourself out the door is the hard part.

Give yourself one day where someone can say “we’re going here tomorrow” and you can actually say yes.
