I’ve always found that home is more than a place, it’s a feeling, and my mom taught me that early on. She grew up in Bohol, then moved to General Santos, finally starting her family and career in Metro Manila. Though she was a nursing graduate, her meticulous care extended beyond people. She applied that same sense of order and nurturing to our living spaces.

I grew up watching her ensure everything was clean, safe, and thoughtfully arranged. She would rearrange furniture with both purpose and creativity. Her crochet pieces or fresh curtains were never grand, but they were always just right. She marked the seasons through our home, from the lightness of summer to the warmth of Christmas, yet the house always felt like us.

Her influence is at the heart of my interior design today. I do not chase luxury or excess. Instead, I strive to create spaces that reflect people, spaces where they feel connected, understood, and at home. From my mom, I learned that the right design is not about being flashy. It is about creating a subtle and comforting atmosphere that makes a space feel truly yours.

A harmonious blend of modern elegance and classic warmth, this Timeless Transitional Master Suite is designed as a serene sanctuary that balances sophistication, comfort, and thoughtful functionality. Soft neutral tones, curated textures, and refined architectural details come together to create a space that feels both current and enduring.

Custom millwork in light oak wraps the entertainment wall, grounding the room with natural warmth, while contemporary black accents add depth and contrast. The bedroom features layered bedding in muted patterns, paired with plush cushions that invite relaxation. Sculptural pendant lights softly frame the bedside area, delivering an elevated glow that enhances the room’s tranquil mood.

Flow meets function through a graceful arched opening leading to a stylish wardrobe zone where matte black glass and open shelving create a sleek, organized dressing experience. The lounge nook with its modern white chaise offers the perfect spot for unwinding, complemented by organic elements like indoor greenery and warm ambient lighting.

Every detail from the tactile rug underfoot to the gentle curvature of the ceiling and furniture celebrates a design approach that is timeless in spirit yet transitional in expression. The result is a master suite that feels personal, luxurious, and effortlessly livable.

What was once a modest front yard has been transformed into a striking Timeless Transitional Mancave, a modern Filipino interpretation of organic design anchored in the intimate rituals of family life: siesta, laro, and shared downtime. Designed as the personal retreat of the Head of the Family, the space has evolved into a multigenerational lounge where a father and his two sons gather instinctively, slipping into an easy rhythm of rest and play.

The interiors are subtly shaped by the father’s lifelong devotion to Star Wars. The sculpted, cavern like walls and softly arched ceiling recall the textured terrains and atmospheric environments of the galaxy he grew up admiring. This tactile envelope becomes both backdrop and metaphor, an immersive homage to the saga that has quietly threaded through his childhood, adulthood, and now fatherhood.

Throughout the room, carefully curated collectibles and iconic models act not merely as decor, but as narrative anchors. They articulate a design language that is personal, storied, and playful, balancing the refined calm of modern organic finishes with the spirited nostalgia of a well-loved fandom.

In this mancave, family culture and design sensibility meet. It is a space that invites lounging, connects generations, and turns everyday moments into rituals worth returning to. Warm, layered, and deeply personal, it stands as a testament to how a room can hold not just objects, but the evolving story of a family.

YUGENHAWA: The Poetry of Subtle Comfort

In this 3rd Quarter 2025 turnover, I’m proud to share a concept close to my heart — YUGENHAWA — a term I coined to express the harmony between the Japanese philosophy of Yūgen (幽玄) and the Filipino essence of Ginhawa.

Yūgen speaks of that which is quietly profound — beauty that is not loud but deeply felt. It’s the art of sensing grace in restraint, mystery, and shadows.
Ginhawa, on the other hand, is the Filipino principle of ease and breath — the feeling of warmth, comfort, and emotional space that welcomes you home.

When these two meet, they form YUGENHAWA — a dynamic philosophy that translates to spaces that are both intentionally calm and soulfully lived-in.

Each element in this home embraces that balance.
Wood slats flow rhythmically across walls, creating gentle texture that echoes nature.
Natural light filters through layered blinds, casting ever-changing moods throughout the day.
Muted tones blend with warm wood and soft greenery, breathing life and grounding presence.
Every room becomes a dialogue between mindfulness and emotion — between stillness and the familiar joy of Filipino living.

This project stands as an exploration of how Japandi principles can evolve into something more personal, more cultural, and more human.
It is not just about minimalism; it’s about meaningful living — about crafting spaces that allow one to feel, breathe, and simply be.

Because home, in its truest form, should be both serene and alive.
That’s the heart of YUGENHAWA — where quiet sophistication meets everyday warmth.

Earthy Nordic: An Interior Design Direction for a Studio Type Unit Made for weekend home.

The design concept for Unit C is to transform the corner studio unit into a Scandinavian style-inspired weekend Home that can cater both a solo living and sleep overs for friends. As Nordic design heavily relies on neutrals, most notably, bright whites with pops of black and tan, it strives for functionality without sacrificing beauty. Earth tones, on the other hand, give the importance of sensorial tactility such as bringing warmth and comfort needed on any modern interior design project. This clean but warm concept, alongside the calming nature of a large, light-filled space without any clutter, is partly why these two design elements work well together. Creating functional spaces with a relaxing atmosphere will ensure that guests will enjoy their stay as it won't only be gorgeous to look at, but it will also be amazing to live in.

Imagine coming home to a space that doesn’t just look beautiful—but feels like it knows you.
This is the heart of our latest interior design project: a reimagined home that brings comfort, clarity, and connection into the everyday. In this first part of our reveal, we’re sharing the Living Area, Home Office, Dining, and Kitchen—spaces that carry the rhythm of daily life and are now made even more meaningful through thoughtful design.

We focused on gentle curves, soft neutrals, layered lighting, and cozy textures to create a warm, light-filled atmosphere that embraces every member of the family. The living area invites rest and shared moments with plush seating and earthy tones that ground the space. The home office is tucked in thoughtfully—functional yet calm, blending seamlessly into the home’s flow. The dining area hugs you with its rounded banquette and subtle lighting, creating an intimate nook for shared meals and slow conversations. And the kitchen, clean-lined and welcoming, stays connected to it all—supporting both the practical and the personal.

This project is about more than aesthetics—it’s about designing with intention. It’s about creating a home that reflects who you are and who you’re becoming.
This is just the beginning.
