📚 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

NAIT lists a minimum of 63% in each of:

• Grade 12 English — English 30-2
• Grade 12 Mathematics — Math 30-2 or Applied Math 30 — OR Grade 12 Physics
• Grade 12 Biology
• Grade 12 Chemistry

Applicants must also meet the English-language proficiency requirement. NAIT assesses international qualifications for equivalency; meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission.

🇵🇭 STUDIED IN ENGLISH IN THE PHILIPPINES? IELTS MAY NOT BE REQUIRED.

The Philippines is on NAIT’s English-language proficiency exempt-country list.

Applicants who completed at least TWO consecutive years of full-time, for-credit postsecondary studies in English may satisfy the requirement through their education.

Prepare your transcripts and, if requested, supporting evidence that English was the medium of instruction. A medium-of-instruction letter alone does not automatically establish eligibility.

If you do not qualify through previous education, NAIT accepts IELTS Academic with at least 6.0 in each skill, or another accepted option. Academic English prerequisites still apply.

💰 FIRST-YEAR INTERNATIONAL TUITION

CAD $22,500 for the September 2027 intake, based on NAIT’s published 2027/28 tuition schedule.

Budget separately for additional fees, books, supplies, accommodation, transportation and living expenses.

✅ POTENTIAL FOR A THREE-YEAR PGWP

The program’s listed CIP code, 41.0101 — Biology and biotechnology technologies/technicians — currently appears on IRCC’s eligible field-of-study list.

Graduates of an eligible program lasting two years or longer may receive a PGWP of up to three years, subject to passport validity and all applicable requirements.

For this diploma, current requirements include:

• CLB/NCLC 5 in all four language abilities.
• Maintaining full-time status during required academic sessions, with permitted exceptions.
• Completing at least 50% of the program in class in Canada under the applicable rules.
• Applying within 180 days of completing the program.

Because NAIT lists hybrid delivery, confirm that your study arrangement meets IRCC’s requirements. NAIT’s admission English exemption does not waive the PGWP language-test requirement.

👤 PLANNING TO STUDY AS AN INDEPENDENT APPLICANT?

This diploma does not qualify a spouse or common-law partner for a student-spouse open work permit under current rules. Any accompanying partner would need to qualify separately for their intended status.

🍁 HOW COULD THIS CONNECT TO PERMANENT RESIDENCE?

EXPRESS ENTRY — CANADIAN EXPERIENCE CLASS

After graduation, eligible paid Canadian work in a TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 occupation may help you qualify for CEC.

The minimum is generally 12 months of qualifying experience within the previous three years. Your actual job duties determine the appropriate NOC. Work gained while studying full-time, including co-op work, does not count toward the CEC minimum.

You must meet the other requirements, and eligibility does not guarantee an Express Entry invitation.

ALBERTA ADVANTAGE IMMIGRATION PROGRAM

The Alberta Opportunity Stream may be another possibility for eligible NAIT graduates working in Alberta on a PGWP.

Current criteria include eligible employment and a qualifying full-time job offer, an occupation related to your Alberta studies, and at least six months of qualifying full-time Alberta experience in your current occupation within the previous 18 months.

Language, education, permit and other requirements also apply. Alberta uses a Worker Expression of Interest and invitation process; completing the diploma does not guarantee an invitation or nomination.
