Kielwood shafts are a dark colored, hard rock maple, which has has gone through a torrification process which heats up the wood and burns off any moisture and sugars from the shaft. They typically run .5 oz to 1.0 oz lighter than a regular maple shaft.

The result is low-deflection performance and durability on par with top carbon fiber shafts while maintaining the feel and pleasing sounds of a wood shaft.
