The angel's message troubled Mary. It was leading her into uncharted waters, into a life of unimaginable risk. She is willing to take the risk, and to trust God's invitation.

Christmas highlights the belief that God is in all of us. We can ignore that, or we can help God be found in all of us. God is often deeply hidden, and God is active through each of us for each other. In the visit of Mary, God came close to Elizabeth in the ordinary and homely moments of every day. These Advent and Christmas days give us the space to allow the huge eternal mystery become part of the everyday.

When a woman in the crowd cried to Jesus. “Blessed is the womb that bore you, he replied, Blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it.” First of these was his mother, who said, “Let it be with me according to Your word.” We remember her words whenever we pray the Angelus.

"Heavenly Father, You offer us abundant grace, mercy, and forgiveness through your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Help me to live a grace-filled life as Mary did by believing in Your promises and by giving You my unqualified 'YES’ to Your will and plan for my life. Amen.”

We live in a world with many prejudices. The person who says something can be taken as more important than what was said. There can be failure to acknowledge the context. While Jesus’ life-style was very different from that of John, both were rejected. The hearers saw the difficulty as outside themselves, not within. They needed wisdom to be able to interpret the truth of the call to change.
The Lord desires me to be free. I have my own prejudices. Where am I called to be more free of them? Who are the tax collectors and sinners that I am called to befriend? I ask the Lord for the freedom that opens me more fully to follow him more closely.

"Lord Jesus, open my ears to hear the good news of Your kingdom and set my heart free to love and serve You joyfully. May nothing keep me from following You wholeheartedly. Amen.”

"Anti-Distracted Driving Act''
The bill bans the use of a mobile communications to write, send, or read a text-based communication or to make or receive calls,” along with “using an electronic entertainment or computing device to play games, watch movies, surf the Internet, compose messages, read e-books, perform calculations, and other similar acts” while driving or while on waiting on a “red signal.”

Violators will be met with a stiff fine of P15,000 and suspension of driver’s license for individuals upon committing their third offense of the proposed act.

The bill, however, would not apply to people “using mobile phones for emergencies, including calls to a law enforcement agency, healthcare provider, fire department, or other emergency services, agency or entity,” or to people “using mobile phones while operating vehicles providing emergency assistance,” such as ambulances or fire trucks.

Penalty:
1st offense - P5,000
2nd offense - P10,000 for the second offense
3rd offense - P15,000 and a 3 month suspension of driver's license.
