UPDATE ..
THE proposed SORSOGON–NORTHERN SAMAR Interlink Bridge ..(SNSIB) is now considered FEASIBLE with strong economic potential by the global engineering consulting firm "TYLin" ..
THE design chosen to make the project viable is a series of three (3) long-span cable-stayed bridges ..
Bridge 1 .. Allen to San Antonio Island (Northern Samar)
Bridge 2 .. San Antonio Island to Capul Island (Northern Samar)
Bridge 3 .. Capul Island to Matnog (Sorsogon)
RATHER than trying to construct a single, massive bridge straight across the deep waters of the San Bernardino Strait, the strategy shifted to an "island-hopping" layout passing through Dinalupihan and Capul Islands cutting the overall alignment from 28kms to just 20kms ..
According to DPWH reports from legislative budget hearings, the design has a massive socio-economic yield .. For context, this 42% EIRR eclipses the highly-touted Bataan–Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB), .. which has a 33% EIRR (way above the minimum NEDA threshold of 10%) ..
NOTE .. The "Economic Internal Rate of Return" are ..
(EIRR) measures a public or large-scale infrastructure project's overall socio-economic yield for a region or country. It serves as a crucial tool for governments, development banks (like the World Bank, ADB, or JICA), and planning agencies to evaluate whether a project is worth funding ..
THE assessment is targeted for completion in 2027 by "TYLin" (formerly TYLin International), a San Francisco, CA, USA-based infrastructure consultancy firm founded in 1954 with a number of world-famous landmarks under its' belt ..
