24 March 2026 – The Professional Engineering Training Division (PETD) of the UP National Engineering Center is presently conducting two training programs:

📍 Module A: Introduction to Data Science and Analytics | March 24-26 Seminar Room A
📍 CPD1 Mentoring (Project Requirements for a Power System Study of a Real Electric Cooperative Distribution System) | March 23-24 Seminar Room B

Module A is part of the Data Science and Analytics Certification Program. On the other hand, CPD1 Mentoring is part of the Competency Training and Certification Program in Electric Power Distribution System Engineering.

The Data Science and Analytics Certification Program, one of the training programs offered by the Professional Engineering Training Division of the National Engineering Center, has been developed to benefit IT managers, data systems modelers, database administrators, data architects, CIOs, educators and others who need to take and analyze massive amounts of data from different sources to produce dashboards, generate summary reports, and glean hidden information or patterns needed for managerial decision support. This program will also be advantageous for those who collect large amounts of data to analyze trends and systems.

At the end of the full program, the participants should be able to:
1. Develop a solid understanding of the fundamentals, concepts, business, and technical architecture, and best practices related to data analytics.
2. Gain a broad understanding of tools, data management, techniques, industry applications, and future directions in data analytics and data mining.
3. Apply appropriate analytics tools to different industry problems and interpret results accurately.
4. Use modern data analytics software and implement end-to-end data analytics projects in their respective fields.

Recognizing that big data analytics has not been totally received here in the Philippines, and the need to make analytics part of a company’s overarching competitive strategy, eight (8) modules have been created, as shown below:
1. Module A: Introduction to Data Science and Analytics
2. Module B: Data Warehousing
3. Module C: Descriptive Analytics
4. Module D: Predictive Analytics
5. Module E: Prescriptive Analytics
6. Module F: Forecasting and Time Series Analysis
7. Module G: R for Data Science and Analytics
8. Module H: Python for Data Science and Analytics

A participant who completes the first five (5) modules and passes the certification exam will be certified as a Data Science and Analytics Associate. On the other hand, a participant who completes the first seven (7) modules and passes the professional certification exam will be certified as a Certified Data Science and Analytics Professional.
