More than your resumes, "WOW" 😮 Video Resumes are added to the trend to get a high chance of getting noticed by the hiring manager or recruiter. 🤩

Here are some tips on making a "WOW" video resume: ✅✅✅

1. Prepare and memorize the script. ✍️ 📋 You don't want to be seen reading from it. 📖 Exhibit your communication skills and speaking accent as needed for the job.

2. Make it relevant. 💯 Don't repeat what is inside your written resume. ❌ Let your video resume tells more about you and your skills that you cannot put in your resume.

3. Keep it short. Don't get overly dramatic, unless you're auditioning for a play or TV drama. 📺 Recruiters are busy people. 🥸 The best video length for audience engagement is 1-2mins. ✅✅

4. Be creative and personalize your video resume for every position that you're applying for. 🖼

5. Make a quality video. Smartphones 📱 can be used in filming HD videos nowadays. Check the lighting, framing, and audio. Film in a quiet place. 🐔 🐶 Speak directly to the camera and make sure that your voice can be heard clearly. 💯

6. Gather feedback. Ask your family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, friends, or mentor to check your video resume. Two sets of eyes 👀 and ears👂 or more are better than one.

7. Follow instructions. Some recruiters put specific instructions such as the "subject" to be used in your email application, stating your favorite color 🎨 to your cover letter, the length of video introduction they require, or just some basic instructions that they want to see in your application. Following instructions let them know that applicants have taken the time to read the entire job post. Otherwise, this can be grounds for the hiring manager or recruiter to turn down your application.

I landed my first US of A client as an interviewer days before I even finished GVA Mastery Class! 🇺🇸

It did not come naturally, I applied, of course. 😁

Most of us avoid speaking in public or just merely talking to other people. 🎤 So much more if we are not going to use our native language. In my line of work in the maritime industry 🚢👨‍✈️, we use the English language most often when talking to people from foreign countries. There are times that even just a word or a hand signal, we can be understood maybe because we come from the same industry.

This time, as an interviewer, will be a lot different. We will be engaging with people coming from a diverse society, but that is not the point I am making here.

I got hired to a job, and it’s a voice account! Part-time, flexi-time. 🎉 🎊🍾🥳

With this job, I can still do what I needed to do on an everyday basis. Cooking at home.👨‍🍳 Household chores. Groceries. Netflix and chill. 📺 Going on trips. ✈️ and a lot of “me times”.

Just to share, there is the voice and non-voice account in freelancing. In voice account, you are needed to speak. Otherwise, it is a non-voice account. I hope it helps. 😆excluding office politics and favoritism.

Seriously, the journey was hard. Creatives, content creation, graphics, web design, and so much more were not my cup of tea. Sleepless night, countless revisions, Youtube, Googling, tumbling. Name it.

It was all worth it. It paid off. Having the highest honor is a bonus. All the learnings whether you choose to use it in freelancing or not, for me, nothing is wasted.

So yeah, I was just again randomly doodling. Congratulations, you have reached this part! 😁
