FAKE CHRISTIAN vs. TRUE CHRISTIAN
The Difference Is Not Perfection—It's Christ. 🤍
One of the saddest realities in the world today is that not everyone who calls themselves a Christian truly knows Christ. Some know the language of Christianity, attend church every Sunday, memorize Bible verses, sing worship songs, and even serve in ministry. Yet Jesus gave this sobering warning:
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven..." — Matthew 7:21 (NKJV)
This verse is not meant to make believers live in fear. It is meant to lead us to examine where our confidence truly rests.
The question is not...
"Am I religious enough?"
The question is...
"Am I trusting in Jesus alone?"
Because Christianity is not about becoming a better person first.
It is about being made alive by the grace of God.
❌ A Fake Christian...
A fake Christian may know about Jesus but has never truly placed their faith in Him.
1. They trust in their own goodness instead of Christ.
They think...
"I'm kind."
"I help people."
"I attend church."
"Surely God will accept me."
But salvation has never been earned by good works.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith... not of works, lest anyone should boast." — Ephesians 2:8–9
Good works are wonderful.
But good works cannot wash away sin.
Only the blood of Jesus can.
2. They love religion more than they love Jesus.
They may look spiritual on the outside...
but their heart is still far from Him.
Jesus said,
"These people honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me." — Matthew 15:8
God is not impressed by outward performance.
He desires a surrendered heart.
3. They obey only when it benefits them.
They follow Jesus when life is easy...
but walk away when obedience becomes costly.
Their relationship with God depends on circumstances instead of faith.
4. They want Heaven...
but they don't want Jesus to be Lord.
They want the blessings...
without surrendering to the Blesser.
5. Their identity is built on appearance.
Their confidence comes from what people think about them...
instead of what Christ has done for them.
✝️ A True Christian...
A true Christian is not someone who never sins.
A true Christian is someone who has discovered that they can never save themselves.
That is why they cling to Jesus.
1. They trust completely in Christ.
Their hope is not,
"I hope I've done enough."
Their hope is,
"Jesus is enough."
Because on the cross Jesus declared,
"It is finished."
The debt has already been paid.
2. They know they are deeply loved by God.
They don't obey to earn God's love.
They obey because they have already received God's love.
Grace changes the reason why we obey.
Obedience is no longer payment...
It becomes worship.
"We love Him because He first loved us." — 1 John 4:19
3. When they fail...
they run toward Jesus,
not away from Him.
They don't hide in shame.
They come boldly to the throne of grace because they know Jesus already paid for their sins.
Hebrews 4:16
Grace does not give us permission to sin.
Grace gives us confidence to come back to the Savior every time we fall.
4. Their life slowly begins to change.
Not overnight.
Not by pressure.
Not by fear.
But by the Holy Spirit.
Real transformation is the fruit of grace—not the price of grace.
2 Corinthians 5:17
5. Their security is in Christ.
Some days they feel strong.
Some days they feel weak.
But their salvation is not held together by their feelings.
It is held together by Jesus.
"My sheep hear My voice... and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone sn**ch them out of My hand." — John 10:27–28
❤️ Grace Reminder
If reading this makes you realize that you've been trusting in yourself more than in Christ...
Don't run away from God.
Run to Him.
Jesus did not come to save perfect people.
He came to save sinners.
You don't become worthy before coming to Jesus.
You come to Jesus because you'll never be worthy on your own.
The Gospel is not:
"Do better so God will love you."
The Gospel is:
"God loved you first through Christ. Believe in Him, and let His grace transform your life."
Today, stop comparing yourself with other people.
Stop trusting in your own performance.
Stop carrying a burden Jesus already carried at the cross.
Look to Christ.
Trust Christ.
Rest in Christ.
Because...
A fake Christian trusts in religion.
A true Christian trusts in Jesus.
"Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." — Romans 8:1
Grace doesn't make us pretend to be perfect. Grace leads us to the Perfect Savior.
