We all know the fuel prices have significantly increased and other products are increasing as well. One of the reasons is the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, which affects not only their countries but the whole world.
🌍 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬: The Middle East supplies a large part of the world’s oil. When there is war or tension in that region, oil production and transportation become risky and uncertain. When supply becomes lower while demand stays high, fuel prices increase across the world — including in the Philippines. When fuel prices increase, it often causes a chain reaction that affects the prices of many other products.
𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞:
1️⃣ 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 - Most products must be transported from factories to warehouses and then to stores. When diesel and gasoline prices increase, delivery and trucking costs also increase. Because of this, the price of the products will also go up.
2️⃣ 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 - Factories use fuel and electricity to operate their machines. When the cost of energy increases, the cost of producing goods also increases. To continue operating, manufacturers sometimes need to raise their prices.
3️⃣ 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 - Many products in the Philippines come from other countries. When fuel becomes more expensive, cargo ships and airplanes also become more expensive to operate. This increases the cost of imported goods.
4️⃣ 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 - During global conflicts, the supply of raw materials may become slower or more difficult to obtain. Some shipments may be delayed, while others become more expensive. When supply becomes limited but demand remains high, prices usually increase.
5️⃣𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 - When fuel prices increase, many industries are affected. Food products, construction materials and household items may all experience price changes. Even in the province, we feel these effects because many products rely on transportation and global supply.
❤ During times like these, let us show patience and understanding toward businesses especially to the hardworking sari-sari stores in our community. They wake up early sometimes not just for the store but also to serve their families. They try their best to look for the cheapest and best products to sell. Some of them even do deliveries under the scorching heat of the sun. Some of them, they are the only earners for their family. Everyone is doing their best to adjust and to continue providing for their families. ❤
